Our Pastor
Our senior pastor Haywood Ellis received Biblical training from Aenon Bible college and was ordained by the PAW (Pentecostal Assemblies of the World). He went on to become the founder and pastor of Cy-Fair Church a non-denominational church based in North West Houston. Pastor Ellis is a native Michigander. A teacher and evangelist who was the founder of the Shepherds voice radio program in Michigan and founder of CAYP ministry (Christian Alliance for Young People), a youth outreach ministry. He served for several years on the YMCA Christian Emphasis Committee board here in Houston Texas. Pastor Ellis is married to Betty who is originally from Kenya.
Pastor Ellis has great passion for lost souls and successful marriages and families. Due to the burden, in 2002 he founded Principles for Family Living Ministries, which is designed to build stronger marriages and families. Some of the topics covered include Preparation for a successful marriage before you say "I do.", Communication and conflict resolution in the marriage union & parenting children in the 21st Century.
Haywood Ellis has eleven siblings, four of whom are pastors and others involved in various capacities in ministry. They were brought up predominantly by their mother Delores Ellis who imparted great treasures in her children's lives. God gave Delores great comfort and assurance through the scriptures her most favorite being Isaiah 54:13 "All your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children."
Pastor Ellis's late father Robert Haywood Ellis was a nationally known evangelist, psalmist and classical pianist who traveled throughout the continental United States, Asia and Canada. In his teenage years, Haywood traveled with his father on missions in the United States.
The blessings of God upon this family did not begin with pastor Haywood Ellis, or his father but many years ago with Bishop GT Haywood his great grandfather who was the first presiding bishop of the PAW in 1925. One of the first broad based inter racial Christian organization of that era. PAW was formed out of the Azusa street revival in L.A California. Later the PAW moved to Indianapolis IN. where it remains today. Bishop Haywood founded and pastured Christ Temple Church in Indianapolis. His ministry impacted the city in such a way that a great portion of Fall Creek Boulevard was renamed Bishop G.T Haywood memorial Parkway, He spread the gospel through publications, songs, preaching and teaching and establishing churches nationally. Some of the many books he wrote include "Before the foundation of the world", "The victim of the flaming Sword", and "The finest of the wheat." He was also famous for writing blood songs often sung today during communion services. These include, "Crimson stream of blood", "Washed in the blood", "Face to Face".
With this kind of heritage and spiritual investments, our Pastor Haywood Ellis has accepted the call and is continuing the work that begun years ago with his predecessors.
